COSTA NOVA
It is one of the excellent Portuguese beaches for the practice of water sports, since, besides the Atlantic front, it also has a riverside front for the Mira Canal of Ria de Aveiro. In addition to one of the oldest sailing clubs in the Ria de Aveiro - the Costa Nova Sailing Club, there are also kite surfing, kayaking and surfing schools, among other sports. The beach is also crossed by a modern bike path that links it to two other beaches. One of the most frequent activities is the mini-golf, through the club that settled here several decades ago. There are also several outdoor sports venues: tennis and football. Gastronomically, the "gut", one of the most famous regional sweets, appeared in Costa Nova. In the fish market that is here it is also possible to buy shellfish, especially at the weekend. Every year, in August, the Ria a Gosto - Costa Nova Seafood Festival is held. Here there are many good restaurants, specializing in cod, fresh fish - grilled or in caldeiradas and still seafood from the Ria de Aveiro. The ex-libris of this beach are the "palheiros" - houses with vertical or horizontal lists interspersed, old warehouses of fishing materials, or warehouses of salt of the sardine, now converted into bathing residences.
PRAIA DA BARRA
Praia da Barra is located on the western coast of Portugal, in the district of Aveiro, and where the Aveiro estuary connects to the sea. Of the existing built heritage, we highlight the Barra Lighthouse, the Barra Bridge and the wall. This wall delimits to the south the entrance of the bar of the Port of Aveiro, and is about 500 ms of length, entering by the sea. The Aveiro lighthouse or Barra lighthouse is the largest lighthouse in Portugal. It was, at the time of its construction, the sixth largest in the world in stone masonry, continuing to be currently the second largest in the Iberian Peninsula, being included in the 26 largest in the world. It was built in the nineteenth century, more properly between the years 1885 and 1893, and underwent major repairs in 1929.
VAGUEIRA
A beach that besides a fantastic option to go to baths, shows us also the most traditional of the fishing arts. An extensive beach protected by rocky areas that prevent the sliding of sands. Vagueira Beach allows vacationers access to the beach by wooden walkways, among other infrastructures that meet the needs of the most demanding. With a fantastic surrounding of vegetation and dune landscape, the Vagueira proudly shows small fishermen's houses that bring us the freshest fish.
